Portland General Store perfumes are inspired by recipes we’ve found from the 1920s and ‘30s. Our all-natural ingredients are a blend of organic sugar cane alcohol, CO2, absolutes and essential oils—and each scent is blended by hand in small batches.
Bee – A vintage recipe inspired by women of the 1920s. The 1920s was a decade when women started to redefine themselves. After the war and with the right to vote, the modern working woman developed a new self-confidence. Style icons like Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren exuded classic beauty, and were at the same time smart and resilient. Bee is a scent for the redefined woman of today. She is a modern version of the woman of the twenties, trading in cheaply made and disposable goods of the late twentieth century to quality made goods. She nurtures, gathers, is feminine and strong. She is a well made woman.
Heart notes of Bee perfume are orange blossom and jasmine. Other notes include wildflowers, honeysuckle, and vanilla. Soft, floral and powdery on the skin. We recently introduced helichrysum, one of the most healing oils for the heart, and when blended with Ylang Ylang can reduce blood pressure. It is also know to open the right side of the brain and promote creativity, increase dream activity, and when blended with jasmine, aid in dealing with emotions and the past.
