John Gill has been farming in the Hudson Valley for decades, and for many years his farm has been delighting guests with this unique celosia. Grown from seed that was conveyed to him by relatives who brought it back from Mexico, this variety is very tall—up to six feet in height—and is plumed with bright magenta chenille-like, crested inflorescences that are so vivid they appear to glow, especially in the dim light of evening. The central blooms become magenta universes of bloom and growth (and, often, insect life), and the side shoots make wonderful cut flowers.

A tall bright magenta celosia that produces giant flower heads on attractive stems and foliage. Start indoors and transplant when seedlings are about 4 inches high. Transplant at farther spacing for tall, sturdy plants, or closer together for thinner stems and smaller flowers. Reaches over 5 feet high.
Denise Seavey began her quilting adventure sewing traditional quilts, but soon turned to art quilts. As a member of SAQA, (Studio Art Quilt Associates), she designs her own fiber art. She has had quilts juried and shown at the New Mexico State Capitol, Albuquerque Open Space, The Hubbard Museum of the American West, International Quilt Festival in Houston, Cincinnati and Long Beach. Her most recent quilt, Foxglove, was chosen to travel in the Natural Healing SAQA Exhibit by artists in New Mexico. Exhibition schedule includes National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, Inova Cancer Center, Fairfax, VA, along with Michigan and Illinois. Denise has had two quilts published in Quilting Arts Magazine, 2013 and 2014.
